One of the benefits of using an HP or Compaq notebook is that you can access the Internet virtually anywhere using a wireless connection. Installing the HP Wireless Assistant makes it easier to find and connect to wireless devices, display the statuses or power of those devices and even control the devices from your notebook. While HP includes the feature as part of the standard installation package for all notebooks, you can install it again if you previously removed it or changed your operating system using Recovery Manager or by visiting the HP website.
Recovery Manager
Step 1
Click the Start button and type "recovery" into the search box. Choose "Recovery Manager" in the list of results.
Step 2
Select "Software Program Reinstallation" under "I Need Help Immediately." Click "Next."
Step 3
Choose "HP Wireless Assistant" in the Factory Installed Programs list and click "Next."
Step 4
Select "Yes" when the installation is complete and click "Finish" to close the window and restart your computer.
HP Support
Step 1
Go to the HP Support website (see Resources). Enter the product number of your notebook into the search box and press "Enter." Select your computer from the list of results.
Step 2
Click the "Download Drivers and Software" link and select your operating system.
Step 3
Choose "HP Wireless Assistant" in the list of available downloads. Click the "Download" button and choose "Save to My Computer."
Step 4
Save the file to a location where you can access it easily, such as your desktop. Double-click the file to begin the installation.
Step 5
Select "Yes" when the installation is complete and click "Finish" to close the window and restart your computer.
