Connecting your external speakers to your computer's sound card is one of the keys to setting up your machine, allowing you to enjoy the high-quality sound effects and audio from your media files and gaming programs. Connecting speakers to a computer is a fairly standard affair that can be completed in less than five minutes in the best of cases, requiring no modification of the operating system.
Step 1
Connect the speaker cable for the front speakers to the green audio port on the back of the computer. This is the only port that is used if you're using 2.1 or stereo speakers.
Step 2
Attach the rear speakers to the blue audio port if your speaker setup has more than two speakers.
Step 3
Connect the center speaker to the yellow audio port if you are using a 5.1 speaker setup.
Step 4
Start your computer to auto-detect your attached speakers.
