HDTVs provide connection through an HDMI cable for various components, including DVD players, Blu-ray players and laptops. To view a movie that is on your MacBook through the larger screen of your HDTV, you can hook up your MacBook using the following procedure.

Step 1

Connect the mini-DVI adapter into your MacBook DVI port. Connect one end of the HDMI cord into the adapter.

Step 2

Plug the other end of the HDMI cord into the HDMI 2 slot of the HDTV. The monitor shows the MacBook screen display.

Step 3

Insert the single end of the audio cord into your MacBook audio jack. Plug the other end with the two plugs into the HDTV (HDMI 2) DVI IN slots, matching the color of the plug to the color of the jacks. This enables the sound to come through your HDTV speakers.
