How to Hook Up a D-Link Router to an Internal Phone Modem

D-Link routers offer end-to-end wireless connectivity for home networks. They also help improve Internet access speed. Additionally, this router works with Wireless G devices and provides security features to disable unauthorized access. Connect the D-Link router to an internal phone modem in a short amount of time, then enable your Internet connection with a few settings modifications.

Step 1

Turn off all power sources to the internal phone modem. Connect the D-Link router to a power source nearby the internal phone modem.

Step 2

Attach one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the internal phone modem; attach the other end to the Ethernet port on the D-Link router. Reconnect the internal phone modem to a power source and turn it on.

Step 3

Reboot the computer. Launch an Internet browser and type the following address into the URL field: "http://192.168.0.1". Press "Enter."

Step 4

Enter "Admin" as the username and leave the password field blank. Click "OK." Click "Run Wizard."

Step 5

Follow all installation instructions when prompted to complete the installation. Confirm the connection by reconnecting to the Internet.
