How to Hide Unused Blackberry Icons

by Morgan O'Connor

If you use your BlackBerry for a variety of tasks -- or if you were a little overenthusiastic with the free apps -- you may find that your screen is cluttered with icons that you rarely use. You can rearrange these icons so that the ones you use regularly are in the most convenient locations. For a tidier, cleaner screen, however, you can hide your unused BlackBerry icons. If you find you need to use these icons in the future, you can reveal them quickly and easily.

Step 1

Highlight the icon you wish to hide by scrolling to it with your trackball.

Step 2

Press the BlackBerry's "Menu" button, which looks like a clump of white dots and should be just to the left of the trackball. This opens a list of options. Alternatively, you may press the "ALT" button, then the trackball, to open the same list of options.

Step 3

Scroll up or down with the trackball to highlight the "Hide" option.

Step 4

Press straight down on the trackball to hide the icon.

Tip

  • To show all of your icons -- including ones you have previously hidden -- highlight any icon and press the BlackBerry's "Menu" button. Highlight "Show All" from the list of options that appears, then press down on the trackball to select this option. This reveals all of your icons.
  • If you do not want to hide your BlackBerry icons but do not want to see them regularly, you can organize them into folders. Press the "Menu" button on the screen with the icons, then select "Add Folder" from the list that appears. Type a name for the folder, then click "Add." Highlight the icon you wish to move, then press the "Menu" button. Select "Move." Use the trackball to move the icon to the new folder, then press down on the scroll button to put the icon into your new folder.
