How to Fix Windows Service Pack 2 Install

Service Pack 2 is an integral security upgrade for your Windows XP operating system. Service Pack 2 protects your computer from a multitude of spyware and viruses. If your computer restarted or you lost power during your Service Pack 2 installation, your program is likely corrupted. Since Service Pack 2 is such a vital security tool, you should immediately fix any problems that occurred during installation. The best way to fix Service Pack 2 is to reinstall it.

Step 1

Click on the "Start" button on your desktop and click on the "Run" icon.

Step 2

At the command prompt type in: "appwiz.cpl" then click the "OK" button.

Step 3

Click on the option labeled "Windows XP Service Pack 2" and click the "Remove" button.

Step 4

Click on the "Start" button on your desktop and click on the "Run" icon.

Step 5

At the command prompt type in: "sysdm.cpl" then press "Enter."

Step 6

Go to the "Automatic Updates" tab and select the option labeled "Automatic." Windows will now download and install Windows Service Pack 2.
