The Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync is a feature available in the iPhone 2.0 software that allows you to add your contact information, calendar and email to your phone. This feature is beneficial for businesses as it automatically updates information on your iPhone as new data is available by "pushing" it from the server to your phone. In order to set up Exchange ActiveSync on your iPhone you must add it as a new account in your Mail settings.

Step 1

Press the "Home" button on your iPhone, and tap the "Settings" button on your home screen.

Step 2

Tap the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" tab on your screen and tap "Add Account."

Step 3

Tap the "Microsoft Exchange" tab. Enter your email address, username and password. Tap the "Next" button in the upper-left corner.

Step 4

Tap "Accept" if the application cannot find your server. Manually enter your server name in the "Server" field. Tap "Next" to continue.

Step 5

Slide your finger over the switch on the "Mail," "Contacts" and "Calendar" tabs so they all read "ON." Tap the "Done" button to save the changes.

Step 6

Tap "Continue" on the Password dialog box to create a new password, then create a new passcode. Tap the "Next" button to complete the setup.

Step 7

Press the "Home" button to return to the home screen.
