Prevent Yahoo! Messenger clients from contacting you.

Keeping in contact can't get much faster than the amount of time it takes to send an instant message. Through programs such as Yahoo! Messenger, you're able to select a "friend" or "buddy" from your list, click his name and send a greeting--no phone charges, stamps or waiting necessary. When the time comes that you want to break the lines of contact, Yahoo! provides steps to help protect you. Although it's not possible to access the other person's Messenger list, Yahoo!'s stealth settings make it simple for you to just disappear.
Step 1
Double-click the Yahoo! Messenger icon in the system tray taskbar or the desktop; the icon looks like a yellow smiling face with a big red grin. The Yahoo! Messenger box pops up on the screen.
Step 2
Right-click the name of the person to delete. Select "Stealth Settings." Click "Appear permanently offline to..."
Step 3
Pull down the "Messenger" link at the top of the window. Click "Privacy Options." Click the "Ignore List" link in the left pane. Check to see that the person's Yahoo! Messenger name is now in the list.
Step 4
Click the "OK" button to close the "Ignore List" window.
Step 5
Right-click the person's name again and select "Delete." Click the "Yes" button, then review the instant messenger window to see the person has been deleted.
Tip
- It's important to perform the "Stealth Settings" action before deleting the person from the list. If you delete first, you don't get the option to do the "Stealth Settings," so while the person will be deleted from your list, you'll still be completely available and trackable on hers.
- Click the "Ignore anyone" radio button to ignore all incoming instant messages from people you do not know.
