The ability to delete your Internet history for a specific length of time is helpful in ensuring your privacy, especially if you share a PC or use a public one. Most, if not all, Web browsers, including Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome, give Internet users the option of deleting their browsing history for specific dates. If you would like to delete two weeks of your computer's browsing history, you can do so by accessing your browser's advanced settings.
Internet Explorer 8
Step 1
Open your Internet Explorer history by pressing and holding down the "Ctrl" and "H" keys on your keyboard. You must have an active IE window open before pressing this command. The "History" tab opens to the left of the IE window.
Step 2
Choose "View by date" from the "History" tab dropdown menu. A list of date links appears.
Step 3
Delete two weeks of your browsing history by right-clicking on each date during this period and then selecting "Delete."
Google Chrome 5.0
Step 1
Open Chrome, select the wrench icon and then choose "Options" from the dropdown menu.
Step 2
Click on the "Under the Hood" tab and then select the "Clear browsing history" button. A dialog box opens.
Step 3
Choose the length of history you would like to delete from the "Clear data from this period" dropdown list and then click on the "Clear browsing data" button. Wait as Chrome deletes your browsing history and then click "Close" to return to the main window.
Firefox 3.6
Step 1
Open the "Clear Recent History" window in Firefox by pressing and holding down on the "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Delete" keys on your keyboard. You must have an active Firefox window open before pressing this command.
Step 2
Choose the history period you would like to delete from the "Time range to clear" dropdown menu.
Step 3
Delete the history by clicking on the "Clear now" button.
Warning
- If you did not visit any websites during the two week period, your browser may not display an option to delete your browsing history for this length of time. Browsers store a list of website addresses that are visited on any given day. Therefore, in order to delete your two week browsing history, you must have used your browser during this range of time.
