The Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2, sometimes referred to as XP2) is a large stability, security and update package for the Windows XP operating system. This update package is normally downloaded through the Windows Update utility on the computer, but you can also download it separately and copy it to a CD for archival and referral purposes.

Step 1

Download the Windows XP SP2 installation package (see Resources), and save it to a place you'll remember, such as your Desktop. This package is intended for professional developers who install SP2 on more than one computer, and it delivers SP2 in one convenient .exe file.

Step 2

Insert a blank CD into your computer, and open your CD-writing software. Select the "Data Burn" mode, and browse to the location on your computer where you saved the .exe file.

Step 3

Click the "Burn" button, and wait for the CD-writing software to copy the SP2 .exe file to your CD. Once this process finishes, eject the CD, label it, and put it away for safekeeping.
