How to Convert WMA From Windows Media to an MP3

The Windows Media Audio file format is the proprietary audio format for Microsoft's Windows Media Player. WMA files are similar in audio quality to the more commonly found MP3 format. Developed by the Moving Pictures Experts Group, MP3 files are widely compatible with both portable music devices and digital jukeboxes.

Media Converter

Step 1

Navigate to mediaconverter.org. See link in Resources.

Step 2

Click the "Upload a file" button and locate the WMA file you wish to convert. The file name will appear in the "Selected files" menu. Click "OK."

Step 3

Select "MP3" as your output file format in the drop-down menu. Click "OK."

Step 4

Click "Start" in the "Summary" menu to begin your conversion.

Step 5

Use the Media Converter download link to download the new file once the conversion is complete.

Zamzar

Step 1

Navigate to Zamzar.com. See link in Resources.

Step 2

Click the "Choose File" button to select the WMA file you wish to convert.

Step 3

Select "MP3" as your output file format in the drop-down menu.

Step 4

Enter your email address in the menu.

Step 5

Click "Convert." After Zamzar converts the file, you'll receive an email with a link to your new file.
