How to Convert an MPEG4 to iPod

by Greyson Ferguson

If you have a video iPod, you have the ability to watch movies and television shows from the palms of your hand. However, most videos made for the Apple iPod must be purchased through iTunes. These videos come in the MP4 format, also known as MPEG4. Luckily, if you already have MPEG4 videos on your computer, you are able to convert them onto your iPod without any additional software or converters.

Step 1

Navigate to the location of the MPEG4 videos on your computer. Leave the window or file open that contains the videos because you are going to return to it momentarily.

Step 2

Launch iTunes. After the media player has loaded, click the "Movies" tab in the upper-left corner of the program. This displays all of the current videos you have in iTunes that can be uploaded to your iPod.

Step 3

Click and drag the MPEG4 video files from your computer into the "Movies" window of iTunes. The files are going to copy over into the setlist of the media player.

Step 4

Connect your iPod to your computer via the provided USB cable. In a moment, the iPod is going to be recognized by iTunes and the device information appears in the main viewing window.

Step 5

Select "Movies" under your iPod information. You are going to see all of the available videos you can convert to your iPod, including the movies you just added.

Step 6

Check off the movies you want to add and click the "Sync" button in the lower-right corner of the program. The videos are now going to be added to your iPod.
