The MOV video file format is a video type that is supported by and commonly used with Apple media programs, such as the Apple QuickTime Player and the Mac video-editing program iMovie. Though MOV files can be read by the Bitberry Player as well, and burned to disc in a few different DVD-writing applications, MOVs are not compatible with many Windows-based media players or video editors. If you want to make MOV files more compatible with Windows programs, you can convert to a standard format, such as AVI or MPG.
Zamzar
Step 1
Go to Zamzar's website. Zamzar’s online conversion system can convert MOV files to other standard video file types.
Step 2
Click the “Choose File” button in “Step 1” of the Zamzar system. In the “Open” window that comes up, go to the file on the hard drive and double-click the MOV file to add the file to the system.
Step 3
Choose the file type that you want to convert the MOV file into. Click the arrow by the drop-down list under “Step 2” and click on any file type in the list under “Video Formats.”
Step 4
Type your email address into the box in “Step 3” and click “Convert” in “Step 4.” The MOV is converted and the download link for the file is emailed to you.
Movavi Online Convert
Step 1
Open the Movavi Online Convert page in your browser. Like Zamzar, Movavi can convert MOVs into other video formats.
Step 2
Use the “File” link under the “add” part of the page to switch to file mode. Then click the “Upload Files” button to bring up the “Upload Files” window. Click “Add file” in the “Upload Files” box, go to the folder in which the file is located, double-click the file to add it and click “Close.”

Click the arrow under “Select an output format” to view the file formats that are available for conversion. Choose any file type under the “Video” category to convert the MOV into that format.

Press the “Convert” button. The MOV file converts into the video format that you selected and a download link appears on the page when the conversion is complete.
