The MP3 audio file extension is the king of all music formats. Playable on nearly every portable music device, the MP3 and its titular "MP3 Player" are a part of the lexicon. However, in order to get the files to work in certain specialized applications, one may need to convert MP3s into a different format. The WAV format is an audio format with adjustable bit rates and sampling rates, while the WMA extension is often used for playing songs on the Web.

Approach #1

Step 1

Access mediaconverter.org in your favorite browser.

Step 2

Press "Upload a file" on the home page and pick out the MP3 you want to convert. The file's name appears under "Selected Files."

Step 3

Select "WAV" or "WMA" as the output extension. Click "Start" to kick off the conversion.

Step 4

Click on the link that appears after the conversion is done. This commences the file download to your hard drive.

Approach #2

Step 1

Access Zamzar.com in your web browser of choice.

Step 2

Click on "Choose File" button and search through your hard drive for the MP3 you want to alter.

Step 3
