How to Convert a BlackBerry Camera Into a Webcam

BlackBerry is a line of smart phones distributed by Research in Motion (RIM) Inc. They offer features such as mobile email, appointment settings, calendars, voice recorders, task managers and video recorders. A webcam is a computer camera that streams its images into the computer in real-time using a USB or Wi-Fi connection. If your computer does not have a webcam or the one it has is broken, you can set up the BlackBerry camera to be used as a webcam with a webcam / cellphone software application.

Step 1

Download and install a webcam/cellphone software application onto the computer (See "Resources"). Restart the computer once the installation is complete.

Step 2

Launch the webcam/cellphone software application. Click "Connection" and choose between "Bluetooth" or "USB" depending on how you connect the BlackBerry to the computer.

Step 3

Connect the BlackBerry to the computer via USB or Bluetooth connection. Turn on the BlackBerry video camera. You will then see a picture on the computer screen coming from the BlackBerry video camera.
