How to Connect Your Sprint Ethernet Card to Linksys Wireless

by Jim Campbell

A Sprint Ethernet card is a laptop or desktop network card that uses an Ethernet wire to connect to a router. Linksys wireless routers have hardwired connections, so you can connect to the Linksys router with either a wireless connection or an Ethernet cable. The Linksys router automatically assigns an IP address, and your computer connects to the network when it boots.

Step 1

Power off your computer. Connect the Ethernet cable to your Sprint card. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Linksys router.

Step 2

Power on your computer. The computer receives an IP address from the Linksys router. Log in to Windows. After Windows completely loads, click the Windows "Start" button. Type "cmd" in the text box and press "Enter." The MS-DOS command line opens.

Step 3

Type "ipconfig /all" and press "Enter." An IP address shows, and the "Default Gateway" listed is the Linksys router. This is how you know the connection to the router is complete.

Step 4

Click the Windows "Start" button again. Type "Internet Explorer" and press "Enter." This opens your Web browser. Type a website in the address bar and press "Enter." The website opens, and this procedure makes sure you have an Internet connection through the router.
