If you have a Wi-Fi--enabled BlackBerry smartphone, you can connect to wireless networks and make use of wireless Internet access. This feature can enable you to access the Internet in areas where there is a wireless network but no cellular signal available and can help you avoid cellular data charges, which is particularly useful if you are using your device abroad.
Standard Setup
Step 1
Switch on your BlackBerry device. Ensure you are within signal range of the wireless network to which you wish to connect.
Step 2
Tap on the "Manage Connections" icon on the BlackBerry's main menu, then tap "Set up Wi-Fi Network."
Step 3
Tap "Scan for Networks." Your BlackBerry searches for wireless networks in range. If you would prefer to manually enter the network name, select "Manually Add Network" and type in the network name. This is required if the Wi-Fi network is configured to hide itself from public scans.
Step 4
Tap the network you wish to join. If the network is encrypted, you are required to enter the network password.
Step 5
Tap "Next" to save the wireless profile. This prevents you from having to enter the network details next time you wish to connect.
Step 6
Tap "Finish." You are now connected to the Wi-Fi network and able to use it to access the Internet.

Tap "Finish." You are now connected to the Wi-Fi network and able to use it to access the Internet.
Warning
- If you are using a BlackBerry supplied by your employer, ensure you are allowed to connect to Wi-Fi networks before following these instructions to make sure you do not breach your company's IT security policy.
