How to Connect a BlackBerry to Cisco ASDM

by Marie Lowe

The Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager is a piece of enterprise hardware equipment that offers security and management interfaces for an entire enterprise's network. It has a number of administrative tools and interfaces that allow a network administrator to customize and fine tune his operating environment. Cisco's AnyConnect client for BlackBerry smart phones allows you to access and configure your ASDM remotely from your mobile device.

Step 1

Open your BlackBerry browser and navigate to the Web address of your ASDM device. If you are not connected to the local network, access the IP address that it is running on. Obtain this information from your network administrator if you are not sure.

Step 2

Scroll down to "Download Connection Software" using your trackball, then press it in to begin downloading AnyConnect.

Step 3

Authorize the application for all requested permissions when requested, then press the Blackberry icon to open the menu. Scroll to "Save" and press the trackball down to select it.

Step 4

Return to your Home screen and press the BlackBerry icon to open the menu.

Step 5

Scroll to "Downloads" and press the trackball in.

Step 6

Scroll to "AnyConnect Client" and press the trackball.

Step 7

Enter the IP address of your ASDM device in AnyConnect, then select "Connect." Press it to proceed.

Step 8

Enter your user name and password to finish connecting to the device.
