Video files are often too large to send through email. One way to cut them to a size that will pass through the maximum file limit is to compress the video file into an archive format like ZIP or RAR. You can do this for free with an archive program that you can download from the Internet.

Step 1

Visit either the Rarlabs or CNET websites to download an archive program. Examples of such programs include Winrar and Winzip.

Step 2

Click on the download link to begin downloading. Open the file once it downloads to perform installation. Click "Next" through each part of the installation process until the program is set up on your computer.

Step 3

Once the program has installed, you should be able to right-click on your video file and select "Add to Archive." Click "OK." The file will now be compressed and easier to get through email. If you don't see the "Add to Archive" option, open the program and follow the prompts to archive the file.
