How to Close Applications on the Samsung Captivate

by Andrew Tennyson

The Samsung Captivate is a smartphone that runs on Google's Android operating system. Released in 2010, the Captivate features the Samsung TouchWiz user interface, which means some of its basic functions--including manually closing applications--are handled slightly differently than on a standard Android phone. Devices with the TouchWiz user interface come bundled with a feature called Task Manager that allows you to close applications from the Home menu.

Step 1

Press and hold the “Home” button on the Captivate. Continue holding the button until the Task Manager application appears.

Step 2

Scroll through the list of applications currently running on your phone. Each application is represented by a small thumbnail image with an “X” icon in its top corner.

Step 3

Tap the “X” icon in the top corner of the application you want to close.
