Changing the Background on a Samsung Android Phone

by Andrew Tennyson

If your Samsung Android phone is in need of a facelift, take advantage of the device's onboard customization capabilities to update your widgets, shortcuts, icons and backgrounds. When changing the background images used on the home screens of your Samsung Android phone, you can choose between images you have taken yourself, images downloaded onto your phone and wallpaper that came preinstalled on your device.

Step 1

Tap the “Customize” or “Menu” button on the home screen you want to edit. The Customize button looks like a small plus sign. The Menu button looks like a series of horizontal lines.

Step 2

Tap “Wallpapers.”

Step 3

Tap “Gallery,” “Live Wallpapers” or “Wallpapers,” depending on the type of background you want to use. Tap “Gallery” to use a picture you took yourself or downloaded onto the phone. Tap “Live Wallpapers” to select a wallpaper from the list of animated wallpapers installed on your device. Tap “Wallpapers” to select an image from the list of static wallpapers installed on your device.

Step 4

Scroll through the available images until you locate the one you want to use as your background.

Step 5

Tap “Save” or “Set Wallpaper” to select your background and save your changes.
