How to Change a User Name in Documents

You may or may not be aware that when you send a digital file by email, the author's name is attached to and anyone can see it. Your computer received this information when you installed your operating system or other programs; generally these ask you for your name when you install them. Change the user name on a file is quick and easy to do.

Step 1

Right-click on the document and click "Properties."

Step 2

Click the "Summary" tab.

Step 3

Delete everything in the author box and replace it with another author.

Step 4

Click "OK."
