By default, Windows Live mail is the email application that Windows Vista uses to send messages. Other programs and web browsers rely on it any time you attempt to send a message. However, if you decide you want to change the default email program, you can do so quickly, easily and any time you want. This allows you to use the email application you prefer and and that you are most comfortable with.

Step 1

Click the Windows "Start" menu and click "Default Programs."

Step 2

Click "Set your default program" and select the email application you want to use as your default email program. You can select from a variety of email programs including Microsoft Outlook or Windows Live Mail.

Step 3

Click "Set this program as default" and click "OK" to save then changes.
