How to Change the Background of the Samsung Captivate

by Andrew Tennyson

Samsung released the Android-powered Captivate smartphone, also referred to as the SGH-i897, in 2010. In addition to a 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM, the Captivate has a 4-inch, touch-sensitive Super AMOLED screen that displays up to 16 million colors. You can change the home screen background wallpaper on the Captivate to a selection of preloaded static and live wallpapers, to any photo taken by the phone’s camera, or to an image uploaded onto the device from your computer.

Step 1

Press the “Menu” button on the Home screen of your Captivate.

Step 2

Tap “Wallpaper.”

Step 3

Tap “Gallery,” “Live Wallpapers” or “Wallpaper Gallery.” Tapping Gallery gives you access to photos taken by your Captivate’s camera and to images imported onto the phone. Live Wallpapers are preloaded animated backgrounds. Wallpaper Gallery is a list of static wallpapers that come preloaded on the Captivate.

Step 4

Tap the image you want to use for your background.

Step 5

Tap “Set Wallpaper” or “Save” to set your chosen image as your background.
