Verizon Wireless is a large company that provides cell phones and cell phone service to customers all over the world. When you open an account with Verizon you can open it on a yearly basis; if at any time during or after your contract you want to cancel your Verizon cell phone service, you can do so by contacting Verizon. Verizon Wireless charges early termination fees to anyone who cancels an account while still under contract.

Step 1

Go to any Verizon store to cancel your account. If you are canceling your cell phone service within 14 days of opening your account, you need to return all of the cell phones associated with the account.

Step 2

Provide a Verizon customer service representative with your full name and phone number so he can pull up your account information. Tell him you want to cancel your service with Verizon.

Step 3

Pay the fee for canceling your service. If you cancel within 14 days of opening your account, you must pay $35 per phone and $70 per netbook or tablet. If you cancel your Verizon Wireless account more than 14 days after you opened your account, you must pay a $175 early termination fee and $350 if your phone is an advanced device. The service rep will cancel your account while you wait. Fees are current as of the time of publication.

Tip

  • Once your Verizon Wireless contract expires and your account is no longer under contract, you can cancel your account without any cancellation fees.
