TiVo is a digital video recorder that lets you record your favorite TV shows and programs and then watch them whenever you want. Program your TiVo DVR so you never miss a program again. TiVo DVR connects to your cable or satellite box and is available for a monthly service charge. Transfer pre-recorded programs to your computer, portable device or burn them on to a DVD and watch them on the go.

Transfer to Computer

Upload a program that's saved on your TiVo DVR to your desktop computer or laptop running Windows software. You'll need to do a couple of things before you can transfer programs from one device to another. Install the TiVo Desktop Software for the PC first. It's a free download at tivo.com. You'll also need to connect your TiVo box to your home network using an Internet connection and a network adapter purchased from TiVo. Once connected, you can upload programs to your computer and then watch them from any location. To upload programs, your computer must be using the same home network connection as your TiVo box. You can't upload from a separate location, like a hotel room or any location with Wi-Fi service.

Transfer to Mac

To transfer shows from your TiVo DVR to your Mac computer, you need to download Roxio Toast Titanium software from tivo.com. This is the only software compatible with TiVo and is available for download for a charge. Once installed, you can transfer recordings, burn your favorite shows onto a DVD or transfer them to your iPod, iPhone or PSP. This software also lets you transfer video saved on your computer onto your TiVo box.

Transfer to Portable Device

You can watch your favorite programs saved on your iPod, iPhone, PSP, Blackberry phone or other portable device. TiVo allows you to convert the video formats to Windows Media Player software for viewing on your portable device. Transfer either individual recordings or everything saved in your "Now Playing List" and watch wherever and whenever you want. You'll need to download the TiVo Desktop software to your computer that's connected to the portable device. Once connected, select the programs and then start transferring.

Record on to a DVD

Connect a DVD recorder to your TiVo DVR and transfer programs directly on to a recordable DVD. If you don't own a DVD recorder, purchase any type of DVD recording software, like Roxio Creator, Nero or Easy DVD Burning. DVD recording software lets you upload video to a computer from your TiVo box, then burn it on to a DVD. Burn as many programs as you can and then watch them over again at your convenience.
