There are many reasons to record a phone conversation; you may want to ensure the details of a specific conversation or record threats from a collector or ex-boyfriend. No matter the reason, there are many services online that will record a conversation to and from a landline telephone. None of these services will require that you download any software or install any extra equipment, and each service allows you to access the recorded calls in your online account.
Step 1
Record calls made from a landline with RecordiaPro. To start recording, setup an account online. Depending on your account, you may record outgoing and/or incoming calls to your home phone. When recording outgoing calls, first enter the number provided by the service, and then dial the number you want to call. RecordiaPro automatically records the entire conversation and saves the audio in your online account. To record incoming calls, the caller must dial the dedicated phone number that the service provides you. That phone number forwards the call to your home phone. RecordiaPro charges you based on the number of minutes you want to record. As of 2011, RecordiaPro charges between $30 and $190 to record up to 600 minutes per month. There's no limit on storage.
Step 2
Save audio from landline calls with CallRecorderCard. This service provides a recording-enabled phone number in your area code when you sign up for the service. You must then register your home phone number with the personal number provided. All incoming callers must dial the phone number provided by the service for the call to be recorded. For outgoing calls, you must dial the assigned phone number, and then enter the destination number and the call will be recorded. Then listen to the recordings online or from your phone. As of 2011, CallRecorderCard charges $20 to record up to 60 minutes per month with no limit on storage.
Step 3
Record calls to or from your landline using RecordMyCalls. This service records only outgoing calls. To use this service, call RecordMyCalls' toll free number and then enter the number you want to dial when prompted. The service dials that number and begins recording when the person picks up the phone. Once the conversation is over, you can log in to your online account and listen to the recorded call. As of 2011, RecordMyCalls charges as low as $0.20 per minute and gives you 500MB of storage.
Warning
- In some states you can't legally record any person without their knowledge. Calls recorded without the person's knowledge or without a legal warrant are usually not allowed to be presented as evidence in court. Check your state's recording laws before recording any conversation.
