Outlook Express is an email software client that allows users to easily manage their email messages. Features include the ability to preview incoming messages, save drafts to edit or send at a later date and to let users know exactly when new mail arrives through a convenient new-message indicator.
Step 1
Download Outlook Express for free. If you're using a Mac, you can download Outlook Express for Mac from http://outlook-express.mac.findmysoft.com; if you're using a PC, you can download Outlook Express for PC from http://www.tucows.com/preview/194179. Install the program and open it.
Step 2
Set up your account. After starting Outlook Express, click the Tools menu, then click "Accounts." Depending on your settings, the Internet Connection Wizard may or may not start at this point. If it does not start, click "Add" from the Accounts menu, and then click "Mail." This should open the Internet Connection Wizard.
Step 3
Type in the name that you would like displayed when other people receive email messages from you. Use your full name or any name of your choice. Click "Next."
Step 4
Type your email address into the box on the Internet Explorer Address page and click "Next."
Step 5
Fill in the requested information about your server settings. You will need to know what type of email server you use, the incoming email server's name and the outgoing email server's name. You can find this information by contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or whoever is in charge of the email address you have.
Step 6
Type the name of your email account and your password. Outlook Express will use this information to log in and retrieve your email messages. Click "Next" and then click "Finish."
