The HP Recovery environment enables you to troubleshoot your computer without having to rely on technical support or PC repair services. Use the HP Recovery software to return your computer to the original operating condition in the event you encounter a debilitating malware infection or severe system crash. Boot your computer into the HP Recovery environment if you cannot load the Windows operating system.

Step 1

Restart your computer.

Step 2

Wait for the standard "BIOS" prompts to appear on the screen and press the "F11" key. This must be completed before the Windows logo appears on the screen. The "HP Recovery Manager" window appears on the screen.

Step 3

Click the "System Recovery" option in the Recovery Manager window to begin restoring your computer to a better operating condition.

Tip

  • Use an external hard drive and click "Backup Files First" in the Recovery Wizard to save the files on your HP's hard drive before starting the recovery process.
