The Apple iPhone includes limited Bluetooth functionality so you can pair it with headsets and automobile phone interfaces. Before you can use your Bluetooth device with an iPhone, however, you must set up your iPhone's Bluetooth function and pair it with the device.

Step 1

Set your Bluetooth headset or other compatible device so that it is discoverable. The exact process will vary by device, so you'll need to refer to the device's instructions.

Step 2

Activate your iPhone's Bluetooth by opening the Settings app on the phone and selecting "General," "Bluetooth." Tap the only option in the menu so the switch reads "ON."

Step 3

Allow the iPhone to discover your Bluetooth device, where it will appear in the "Devices" menu that displays once you have activated your iPhone's Bluetooth. The Bluetooth device must be no more than 30 feet from the iPhone.

Step 4

Tap the device when it appears onscreen and input the device's passcode. Tap "Pair" to initiate the connection. Your Bluetooth device will now function with your iPhone.
