If you are a Verizon customer who receives unwanted text messages such as spam advertisements, chain text messages or harassing messages from individuals, you can use your Verizon account to manually block the specific cell numbers, email addresses or Internet domains where these messages originate. Verizon provides this option for all wireless customers.

Step 1

Log into your "My Verizon" online account. This option can be found on Verizon's website.

Step 2

Navigate to the "My Services" link once you are logged in. Select "Verizon Safeguards" from the list of available options.

Step 3

Choose "Spam Controls," followed by "Internet Spam Blocking."

Step 4

Type in the number you want to block from sending you text messages in the "Device Number" field. Click "Save" to initiate the block.

Step 5

Repeat these steps for each additional cell number you want to block text messages from.

Tip

  • You can also use the Spam Blocker to block spam text messages from websites and email addresses. Instead of entering the cell phone number, enter the email or web address you want to block.
