Phone and Internet provider Qwest offers several ways for residential customers to eliminate unwanted calls. Subscribers with caller ID may elect the Anonymous Call Blocking service. When a call from a private number or anonymous line dials in, the caller hears a message from Qwest, informing them that you do not accept private calls. They must dial from another line or enter *67 to display their number. While the service decreases the volume of telemarketer calls, it does not eliminate unwanted calls that do display. You can also block specific phone numbers with Qwest's Call Rejection feature.

Step 1

Dial *60 from your home phone.

Step 2

Listen to the recording. Enter the phone number you wish to block when prompted. You can block a total of 15 numbers. After you register the unwanted number, the call hears a pre-recorded message from Qwest. The message simply states that you are not accepting calls, rather than alerting the caller that you blocked their number

Step 3

Answer the phone when an individual or business calls if you do not know the number. After you disconnect from a call from an unwanted number, dial *60. The Call Rejection manager remembers the number. Follow the prompts to add it to the Call Rejection list.

Tip

  • To activate Call Rejection on a rotary phone, dial 1160 to activate the service, and 1180 for deactivation.
