All Web browsers have the ability to record a history of the websites that the user visits. Although this may be a convenient feature on a single-user computer, it may become more of a security risk on a multi-user computer where another person could easily open the Web browser and see the websites that you have been to. Configure your Web browser to delete your history automatically when the browser is closed to prevent others from monitoring your activities.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Step 1

Click the "Tools" button at the top of the Internet Explorer window, then click "Internet Options."

Step 2

Click the "General" tab.

Step 3

Place a check in the box labeled "Delete browsing history on exit."

Step 4

Click "OK."

Mozilla Firefox

Step 1

Click the "Tools" menu at the top of the Firefox window, then click "Options."

Step 2

Place a check in the box labeled "Clear history when Firefox closes."

Step 3

Click "OK."
