Many Motorola devices -- those capable of operating on Global System Mobility networks, to be specific -- use a Subscriber Identity Module, or SIM, card. The SIM card holds your subscriber information and can easily be moved from phone to phone. Your SIM card can also store contact information. This is an ideal way to transfer your phone book from your Motorola phone to a new device. It also serves as a means of backing up contacts in case your Motorola malfunctions. Only names and numbers can be added to your SIM card.

Step 1

Open the main menu, and select "Address Book."

Step 2

Select "New Entry."

Step 3

Highlight the "Store To" field. Change the option to "SIM" by selecting it and pressing "OK."

Step 4

Highlight the fields you wish to enter (name and number), and use the keypad to enter the contact information.

Step 5

Press "Done." A confirmation message will appear.

Tip

  • You can also copy existing phone entries to the SIM card. Highlight the contact, press "Menu" and choose the "Copy Entries" option. Highlight "To Sim Card" and press "Done."
