Verizon Wireless customers can log in to your online account with Verizon and shop for new phones. If your phone line is eligible for an upgrade you can purchase new phones at discounted prices; if you are not eligible for an upgrade you are required to pay full price for your phone. When you order a new Verizon phone online it ships immediately; you should receive it the following business day. Before you can use your new Verizon phone you have to activate it, which takes a few minutes.

Step 1

Open the package containing your new phone and accessories when it arrives. Jot down the ESN/MEIN number from the back of your phone. The number is located underneath the battery, viewable only when the battery is removed from the phone.

Step 2

Place the battery in your phone and plug in the phone charger. Your phone must be charged before you can activate it.

Step 3

Use your computer to access and log in to your Verizon account. From your “My Services” section click on the “Activate Phone” link. Enter the cell phone number you want to activate, the ESN/MEIN number of your new phone and your billing zip code. Click “Continue.”

Step 4

Enter the order number from your purchase receipt. Turn off your old phone, exit from the Internet and turn on your new phone.

Step 5

Dial *228 to complete the activation process. Choose “1” from the automated voice menu to proceed with the activation process and wait until an automated prompt indicates your new phone is activated. You can now use your new phone.

Tip

  • Save your contacts to the Backup Assistant on your Verizon Wireless account to avoid having to transfer them manually to your new phone.
