How to Access an SD Card on a Droid From the Computer

by Neil Edwards

The Motorola Droid is an Android-based smartphone that runs on Verizon's CDMA wireless network. The Droid includes a microSD memory card slot that can support microSD cards with capacities of up to 32GB. This SD card can store photos and videos that you take with your Droid, as well as content that you download from the Internet. To move this content from your Droid's SD card to your computer, plug the Droid into your computer using its USB data cable, then use Android's memory card mounting feature to access the card.

Step 1

Connect your Droid and your computer using its included USB data cable.

Step 2

Slide the Android notification bar from the top of your Droid's screen to the bottom.

Step 3

Tap "USB Connection," then tap "Mount."

Step 4

Open your computer's Start menu and click "Computer."

Step 5

Double-click the removable disk icon that corresponds to your Droid to open an Explorer window that displays the contents of your Droid's SD card.
